Drake’s Summer Is Coming
It’s only mid May but it feels like summer already. No matter how warm its going to be IceMan the new Drake album is about to cool it off. Whether you like it or not it will be Drake’s summer and no one on the planet will be spared.
A Long‑Awaited Comeback Album
A comeback album was announced almost a year ago with the release of a first single on a livestream in July 2025. At first, I thought that it would come out soon after. But it ended up taking so long that I stopped believing him each time he said it was about to come out. Even though my anticipation for the album was going down, each time he started talking about it again, his old albums were getting enough streams to put them back on the charts.
A Changing Music Industry
The music industry has changed so did the way we listen to music, the way it gets on charts too. Drake understood that, now you can make money multiple times with the same albums over and over again. He knows the importance of trending and how it can put his catalog back on the charts. Without even releasing the album he’s been on them since he started announcing IceMan with numbers sometimes higher than some of the new releases from other artists and breaking new records on the way.
Justin Bieber Joins the Party
He’s not the only only one who got the memo, other artists like Justin Bieber cashed in too by revisiting some of his classics while watching them with the crowd on YouTube at Coachella and guess what ? The tracks went back on the charts and boosted his daily listeners after both of his performances. It’s obvious that the record companies have noticed too and will want to find ways to get songs and albums back on the charts.
Brace for an Ice Storm !
Get ready for an ice storm, a big one. If he was able to break records with his old albums what do you think is going to happen with IceMan ? He’s probably smart enough to put a lot of songs on the album so he will be able to have many top 10’s all filled with songs from the album.
Huge First‑Week Expectations
I anticipate one of the best first week numbers of all his releases, a worldwide tour and that you will hear him a lot in the clubs this summer. Although it was not planned this short break was beneficial for him. People started to realize that the music industry is pretty boring without him and is not doing as well as it used to when he was there.
What’s next ?
I will get back to you after i’ve had enough time to listen to the album properly with some numbers to measure its success.
What Is Out So Far ?
There were two singles officially released
Three IceMan Episodes and a fourth one coming
