Here we go again for the third part of watching all of Drake’s music videos from his latest projects which means that we are almost halfway there ! I think he released some more than the nineteen I knew of… Don’t forget to watch the first two parts to make sure you are up to date.
Burning bridges
We hear some piano and Drake is singing, it was giving me a New Orleans jazzy kinda vibe. We are outside of an italian restaurant that’s in Toronto I imagine… We go up the stairs through a first person view and we open the door to get in. A hostess welcomes us and we are following her into the restaurant.
Looks like she is going to assign us a table. We walk through the restaurant and as the beat changes we see some people chatting at a table to our right. There is a hockey jersey with Domi written on the back of it. It must be Max Domi’s who is playing for the Maple Leafs and he must be Italian !
We walk through the kitchen and there is a member of the staff on the phone. The hostess is showing us the way up, we then go up a couple levels. It made me wonder where we would end up going… the attic, the roof ? There is a door that is opened by someone. We get where we wanted to be and it looks like a private party. Drake is there with a bunch of friends.
We drink a shot with him as we join the party. Everyone is singing along with him and we can hear them sing. Then it’s just them vibing to the song. Drake cheers at the camera and it’s a wrap !
National Treasure
We see a canadian flag up a building, it’s at the University of Toronto in Scarborough. The camera zooms onto the flag and we get inside from the top. Downstairs we see Drake arriving. Then he is up one level of the staircase. Another shot is showing him from behind for a total of three shots that they use for the first verse.
Two completely different styles, one he has some large baggy cargo pants and a winter coat and the other one is giving him a Texan style with a big belt buckle and leather pants. He sold his house in LA and got a ranch in Texas so he does live there now besides Toronto.
There are some beautiful shots with lots of old school cement. He turned around from that third shot and is now facing us as he starts rapping in his Texan outfit. Drake moves towards a group of guys to show off his muscle power again !
We see a few shots of the guys then he goes back to his initial spot. The beat changes so does the shots. We see a close up of his face and the camera moves back while he is wearing a sort of fancy white tracksuit with a black background. He’s in the dark until a light comes on.
We get the same shot but he’s wearing a black leather suit with a white background instead. These are the last two shots and they alternate as he raps and dances until the end of the song.
B’s on the table (featuring 21 Savage)
It starts with a zoom at the bottom of the CN tower then it goes up. As soon as the music starts to play we’re now inside of it. The camera turns as it goes up. Still inside at the bottom of the tower we see a masked woman with a flashlight.
She sees an electrical box and goes in it to turn off the elevator probably… We can see Pinocchio with a target at the back of her mask as she plays with the wires.
She then climbs up from a ladder and we see the shot from outside going up the tower again. She gets to the top of the tower, she looks like BatGirl !
The view goes back inside and we are going back down. We see Drake for the first time with the weirdest shot probably filmed with a drone, it goes down and then comes back up. Pretty weird but cool shot. Drake raps inside the tower as the camera is now right above him. We see her again on the top looking down, then when it gets dark outside she goes up even further.
I could never really figure out what she was doing ! From there we see a mix of inside and outside shots of the tower and sometimes the camera is spinning. I think it was a great idea for the main location to be inside of the CN tower. It must look like that inside for real. The question is was it really it… ?
Even though 21 Savage is featured on the song we never see him. Maybe he’s the BatGirl !
